Hello Greg, I really enjoyed reading your article. A group of us are travelling in September from
Coober Pedy, west along the Anne Beadell via Illkurka Roadhouse, then to Neales
Junction. We intend to travell north along the Connie Sue to Wharburton. Could you advise me as to the conditions of the Connie Sue from Neales
Junction to Wharburton please.
Thanks Allen

G'day Allen,
The highway starts off sandy and the valley floors are quite corrugated but the dunes are not high at all as they have been eroded down to gentle slopes. We ran tyres down to 28psi and had no trouble at al other than having to slow down for the corrugations. As you move north the country becomes heavier and the corrugations become worse. Slow (20kph)and steady and enjoy the countryside. There are a few sections that have washed out but they are not too bad and again just take it easy and wander through. We found it paid to keep the scan on the CB so you can pick a spot to pass. We did have one lone vehicle we met on a tricky section that was a bit difficult but all the others were easy. We have a tray top camper and our companions had a camper trailer.
A great trip and the counrtyside changes all the time. birdlife is marvelous, camels everywhere, rock formations unique.......good for the soul.
If you need more please email me and I'll go further.
Cheers
Greg
