We too had this problem and found that front wheel bearings were the problem. but best to lift both
wheels off ground and double check as we found RHS to be the worst but replaced both anyway
Even though our unit is auto your prob sounds exactly the same
If it is get ready to meet your bank manager as they are not cheap
