Comment: Anne Beadell Highway 2010

Stephen & Fiona

Probably no worse than the corrugations, on the Heather, the Gunbarrel, and the Canning, and many other Outback roads.

And we still go back for more.

Worst thing is that people are still running high tyre pressures out there, shakin the absolute bejesus out of everything, and speeding.

I think I said, in a previous post, after we did the Canning and the GRR, and all associated roads, in our trip last year that everyone sustains some sort of
"collateral-damage".

A mate of mine rode from Cooper Peedy to Anne's Corner, in the re-located Simpson Desert Bike Race ( treddly that is ) and recons that, that section was very corrugated.

Hi Bucky
We were running 18psi and 20 psi and going slow ans using the tyres to absorb the impact. As you know it is no speed race out there and when they were bad, we were only doing no more than 20 kph and when they were not as bad and in good sections the speed may creep up to about 40 kph. When you hear that people have done in in 3 - 4 days one can only think of the condition of their vehicle when they have finished the trip. We were using and found the book here on EO about the Anne Beadell helpful with one exception - the mention of corrugations. Sometimes it would say that we were in a section of either bad or very bad corrugations and to be honest they were no bad or worse than other sections.

Yes we keep going back, not for the corrugations, but the scenery and the solitude that the outback has to offer.

You will love it when you get out there.

Cheers

Stephen
