Great read David. The question "why" keeps coming up. Do you ever ask yourself this especially during races?
I've just finished working on the finish line at
Busselton Ironman. It was a great day with approx 1300 competitors and a run leg lap and a new finishline in the main street of town. Great atmoshere especially when the straglers come in just under their 17 hr time allowance. Inspirational (along with "why").
Good luck for your next race where ever that may be. cheers
Craig.

Why - it does get asked in the back of the mind when the pain is intense and all you want to do is stop. But there seems to always be one answer - why not... It is sort of good healty but yes it hurts and you do find yourself questioning but once the hurt is over and the adulation of the completion kicks in you just seem to find yourself entering more events to maintain the high.
Good work for your efforts at Bussleton you would have assisted a number of my friends in the completion of what is the ultimate in this style of sport.
