Comment: Western Queensland & Gulf Savannah - The Landy + Tvan (On Tour)

Baz.

man the Crown Prince and I spent two weeks in pursuit of “the walking hat” to no avail. A bloody great read Baz. At Birdsville, the local copper said he’d seen a walking hat but legend had it that “the Hat” had gone south to Cordillo to secure mustering work. At Innamincka the said the “Walking Hat” was the reason you couldn’t catch a fish between there and Bulla Bulla which was why the Crown Prince was seen only cooking yabbies in an old Campbells soup tin (2 at a time) despite trying everything for bait. There were rumours of “The Hat” being seen on the Georgina but I thought that was another excuse from the CP for his inability to catch anything.Boulia had numerous sights of “A walking hat”. “I swear it mister, the hat turned left then right and headed north”. It seems that the “Destination Unknown” tour missed you by six days. At least you left an impression.

Hope to finally catch you, Janet and “The walking Hat” out there sometime (and I’m lead to believe that Tough Dog make an adjustable shock for mountain bikes which may protect the touché).

Hi Mick

That gave me a chuckle...

Look forward to catching up, planning next big trip already, although some side trips in between might just tide us over...

Had fun out there, and can’t get enough of it, and Janet and the ‘walking hat’ love it. Next year we will be heading the same way again, although depending on when we can get away it will either be Gulf Savannah region, or perhaps Coburg Peninsular in Arnhem Land. Have a permit organised for Coburg just in case we go that way... All depends on work commitments as to where we go...

On the ‘walking hat’ at age three he walked into the store at Cameron’s Corner and literally it did look like a ‘walking hat’ so the bloke at the bar (can’t remember his name) dubbed him ‘the walking hat’.

Cheers, Baz
