My guess is that it’s the marketing of the product, Glen.
It seems to me that the camper trailer market has become very crowded over the past couple of years, and that every manufacturer has their own particular designs, selling proposition, promotional approach and pricing.
I would guess also that most mug punters like me would do their initial research online or through a camper trailer magazine, try to track down some owners or specific online communities, and then compare the shortlist of "possibles" at a show somewhere.
If you don't do any sort of promotion then you may not make many sales. If you don't make sales you don't get referrals from satisfied customers, nor are you able to establish a user-group. If you don’t engage the “advertorial” marketing community then you don’t get exposure. And if you don't attend the shows (expensive and time consuming, with tyre kickers like me) people don't get to know, and talk about, your product.
So it's probably not the product per se, rather how that product is promoted. And you may have the same difficulty with a fibreglass product.
