Hi Joe,
It indeed an interesting post, but unfortunately I too have no answer to the problem.
A group of us were in
Newman last year and took a tour of the Mt Whaleback
Mine. Interesting, and gives the tourist an inside, sort of, look at what drives
places like
Newman.
Why people decide to create problems is beyond my comprehension. The figures that BHP erected surely would do no harm to the landscape nor denigrate the history of the area.
It begs the question, are those involved in the removal of these figures so deeply concerned about their
heritage that such action was taken, or is it for financial gain?
I have no problem respecting the history/rights of the original caretakers of our country, but I have doubts when these events suddenly occur, after years of ‘acceptance’
Am I missing something? Maybe, I’m not sure.
Politics seems to play an awfully strong part in many areas of our lives. Too bad it creeps into our love of this country and our ability to travel and enjoy it.
Safe travels
Michael J
