John & Val,
I wonder why they call the first pix of yours a honeyeater. I was camped at the Walsh and watched 6 of these birds for 5 days pecking under tree branches looking for insects. There were no flowers on the trees for honey.
They are a very beautiful and colourful bird.
I have a few pix of them too.
Damien

Hi Damian,
Apparently honey-eaters have a sort of brush on
the tip of their tongue - so I guess this bird has one so is classified as a honey-eater. But that does not necessarily mean that it only eats honey - it may enjoy a change of diet too.
Hope you have a really enjoyable trip.
Cheers,
Val.
