Hi Mick, Do you mind giving an indication of hire costs. Looked up the Maui website and it appears to be about NZ$250pd for base vehicle. I know that RACWA have a 10% discount deal with Britz/Maui but wondered if there were other deals available.

you'll find that a lot of the hire companies do deals in the Autumn. We got 25% off the cost of the camper so I think it came to around $180NZD per day. It may have been even less as we were in an off peak period to begin with and then they subtracted the 25%. The weather was a bit cooler but great none the less and some snow on the Remarkables was an absolute bonus. Rates are always cheaper in off-peak and shoulder periods. It's just a matter of identifying when they are and booking as close to the end of the peak as possible.
