Hi John,
You were lucky you didn't get the universal "cool" as a response. Unfortunately every generation has its peculiar slang, but its just possible that our reliance on electronic communication, much of it in abbreviated form, is compounding the problem of limited vocabulary and even more limited ability to speak and write
well.
