Fascinating! Your topic heading is certainly eye catching. We generally do not swim in the ocean in the tropics.

Well my brothers and I and a number of generations of our family have lived and swum around the Whitsundays and the Reef all of our lives, and I can tell you that plenty of people swim in the ocean in the tropics. We had no incidents with dangerous stingers and in fact never knew of anyone who had until we were adults. But the
hazard is certainly real and nowadays we know a lot more about them, as
well as how to protect ourselves. Stinger suits and some knowledge about their breeding cycles helps and we can still swim in certain
places.
