Big Al, my mate John Basham (author of 4WD Survival Guide) has done exactly the same thing as you and now drives an Xtrail. Loves the thing. He had a 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee before the Xtrail. He finds it great on the open road and good for 4WD work.

Heading up to northshore noosa Wednesday to see how she goes in the sand. After a little try out down the spit found it went ok in sand but not like the LC
