Comment: Following the Big Wet - 2011 Trip – Part 19: Atherton Tablelands to Cle

Hi Val,
I am enjoying reading your blogs as we have also travelled to many of the same places.
Theresa Creek used to be a great place to stay for people like us who like a simple campsite with fishing and boating close by, the chance to cook on a camp fire......before the road was sealed and the kiosk was erected.
The generator rules also help to make it popular I guess.
We have stayed there a number of times during the past 6 or 7 years, the last time in 2010.

In my opinion it has been spoilt and it is far too busy and noisy with generators running non stop all day. The people who seem to flock there now are different too...not as friendly, wanting a place where they can have coffee and meals......a place more like a caravan park without having to pay the full price!
BTW we have a caravan but its set up to stay unpowered and we are happy to meet travellers with any kind of rigs. Maybe we will see you along the way sometime and say Gidday.

Regards,

Heather

Hi Heather,
Yes we do seem to cover a lot of the same ground - discerning travellers maybe! Sometimes - well just occasionally when its wet or cold - we feel a bit envious of those in their comfortable caravans, but then we remember the out of the way places we are able to go and feel happy with our go-anywhere Troopy.

Our next blog will have a very different slant on folk in caravans. I guess its human nature to be a bit wary of things or situations that are different, but its a shame that the cameraderie that is often found in free/bush camps doesn't seem to extend so much to caravan parks and other fee paying areas. I guess if we had stayed a bit longer at Theresa Ck we may have met others there, but we were really just passing through and checking out places for when we are next up that way.

I often read and enjoy your blogs too, and hopefully one day we will meet on the road somewhere.

Cheers,

Val.
