Baz, sorry mate but you've got way too much time on your hands.............and probably too much money to go with it. Doesn't really matter what people are responding with, you have your view and that's that. Why are van parks any different to any other business that operates in this ever changing world? They need to move with with the times or move on.
Doing something to entice people to WANT to stay in there parks may be a good place to start - I'm not saying all, but a considerable number of them are quite rude and could do with a lesson in how to deal with the paying public. Out of the dozen reponses to your debate, I'm yet to read one that agrees with you - but agree there is a place for them and I'm sure the smart operators will survive.
You said your theme was to highlight that without private sector investment in tourism we will see a decline in tourism
infrastructure over all. There's still plenty of investment in tourism, both corporate and private, it's just that it's now aimed at a different market. When we were
young it was actually a luxury to have a holiday and stay at a
park - these days it's nothing for couples / families to jump on a Jet and venture off to some other part of the world for their Holiday - Times are continually changing and wether you / they like it, the
Park Industry needs to move with it.

Hi Scott
Actually if you read my original blog and responses in the context they are offered you’ll see that I am in favour of
free camping, in the appropriate
places and I’ve acknowledged there is a ground swell of opinion in favour of more
free camp areas, I just question what cost that will come at.
And on people agreeing or disagreeing, I accept that many will vote with the hip-pocket, but in doing so the bigger picture can often be overlooked. But I have no interest in being right or wrong, simply to encurage sensible discussion on the topic.
Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Regards, The Landy
