Fraser at Easter - OK or too busy?

Gday - a bunch of us are planning on heading to Fraser over Easter- arriving Thursday arvo or so, staying for 3 nights - just wondered if people could share their Easter experiences in regard to how busy it was - did the amount of people detract from the trip etc? It's a big place, but it's a big weekend.

Also, any experiences on Eurimbula NP, Nine Mile Beach in Byfield NP, or anywhere in Cooloola for the same time would be good. Any "don't go there's" etc

Basically we'd prefer to go to Fraser, but are prepared to go as far up as Yeppoon for a good 3 days away. Any suggestions appreciated!

Thanks
Geoff

ps.. we're in my Troopy and a mate's Patrol, so would prefer to get some decent beach driving in if possible.

Fraser will be busy (but so will everywhere else), it's a big island, as long as you are patient, you'll be fine.

I purposely avoid Easter like the plague. Queen St on a Monday would be quieter.

Do you mean there IS a time when Frazer Island isn't busy. When I went, it took half an hour to find a place to pull over on the beach to eat lunch. [No... I'm not kidding or exaggerating], but then McKenzie lake in the middle was good.

It's a great place, but with all the people... won't bother again. Cheers

Every yobbo in Australia that gives us a bad name will be on Fraser at Easter.
(don't get me wrong... not every one there IS a yobbo but ALL the yobbos will be there)
We avoid F.Is like the plague as well at Easter.
cheers

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts.

Does anyone have any other Easter camping experiences to tell, from Brisbane up to Yeppoon. I know everywhere's gonna be busy, but friends are coming from interstate and we're definitley going somewhere for 3 days.

jtb mentioned north straddie - why will this be any different to Fraser?

Am currently considering

Kinkuna (Burrum Coast)
Teewah Beach
Nine Mile Beach (Byfield NP)

We will be getting there Thursday arvo around 2-3, and would prefer to not be disappointed by finding out there's no spots left.

Thanks again
Geoff

hi again u will not be able to move on teewah beach , worse than f.i (forget that), straddie main beach is always the least populated, maybe because of barge price . have u been there, cheers

Haven't been to straddie, only to moreton and Fraser. Have you been to straddie at Easter? or anywhere else at Easter?

Geoff.
Re; Stradie
Ring Redlands shire info centre. Bookings are required at easter. They may be able to tell you how busy. May even be a spot at Flinders beach out of the weather.
