Joe, as you would know, a great number of the tourists who pass through your area do so to see the development. Probably more than come for the terrain. We won't run out of places to 4WD in our life time. Who cares if they are a bit further out. That means a bit more 4WDing to get there.
And Mate, we are tonnes better off that we were 20 years ago. Back then I was picking up the pieces of a failed business caused by Paul Keating’s "recession we had to have". Lost almost everything. We haven't had a proper recession since and probably won't in the foreseeable future
Despite that I have been able to retire in enough comfort to have already done two 20,000+ km trips into outback Australia. Now waiting for a new van and we plan to visit WA next year. We are hoping to spend time in Newman and book some of your tag along tours through the area. And I want to see those long trains again and visit Karijini NP etc etc.
They are all part of what the area has to offer.
It is popular to abuse governments, and some are certainly better than others, but someone is doing something right. Most of us still believe that we live in the best country in the world. And not too many are leaving for Bangladesh at the moment.
So chin up. It's not really that bad.
Best wishes to Mrs. Forulyas. We hope that she is keeping well.
Cheers,
Kevin
