G'day Kevin

You raise an interesting point about "tourists who pass through an area to see the development" ~ I guess there could be some merit in having a gander at sea containers stacked one on top of the other as "new accommodation blocks".

I for one as a rate payer in a town that now has such accommodation units, think its bloody wrong ~ simply because the bastard mining industry is allowed to get away with such semi permanent structures because its quick, you need to understand these mining companies are making TENS of BILLION DOLLARS outright profit annually and most of the profit earings come from the very land they are exporting to feed the overseas markets, the land just happens to be where I live.

As I have said many times before on this and other Forums ~ I have no gripe with the mining industry, but I have a huge axe to grind when it comes to what they can and do get away with ~ simply because the people who tellus they are running the country (governments) dont have to lift a finger as such, to reap hughe amounts income from the miners, so its little wonder they allow such development to go ahead.

As fas a being better off today as opposed to twenty years ago, I know I am a thousand times better off today than even this time five years ago, but its not the point of my post ~ its not about me. I am thinking about my grandsons and what is being obliterated and in cases irreversibly changed and they will never be able to experience clear clean air, pristine vistas or even unspoilt waterholes and clear flowing streams, in this part of the Pilbara, because it has already change for the worse.

Kevin, I honestly hope you do get the chance to visit the inland Pilbara one day soon because its being changed rapidly. My chin is up mate but things are worse than you think. Kevin please know that I write this reply to you without malice.
I'm not allowed to self promote on this site, so I can't say "Jack Diddley" about what you may or may not do, should we ever meet one another.

Safe travels :
