Mike,
I understand your concern re taking to many clothes. On our first trip along the
Birdsville Track in 1986 with our 4 kids, every thing had to fit in the Nissan 4x4 or on top. Brenda's edict to the kids "your spare clothes have to fit into a coles plastic bag", not received
well by our then 14 yr old daughter, but she managed.
My menu for clothes on each trip now is as follows :- One coat/jacket, a spare (warm) jumper, one warm shirt, 4-5 T shirts, 6 jocks (knickers), 3/4 pr of socks (out bush you can wear them for 2 days), 2 pr shorts (one on one in the wash or draw), one pr light long trousers (for mossie etc.. protection at dusk), pr of thongs, pr of sneakers, wear my boots.
We do a small wash every 2-3 days depending on
water and a large one when we hit civilization. It works
well.
You may get a lot of resistance here.... good luck.
Mike.
