Hi Mike. Sounds at times as if we are in a parallel universe. When we went to Karijini and
Millstream in October we also had ` Anderson' issues. LOL. We arrived at
Millstream, went to detach the Camper and found the cable dangling on the ground, wires bare, and no
sign of that beautiful
grey plug!!! It did create a nasty issue when we arrived, as it was late afternoon, and we were powering two fridges as our friends weren't fully set up. We had to that point been using
solar power. Due to the lateness of the day, we weren't going to grab anything from the sun. We asked if we could just power up the genie for a couple of hours to beef up our two batteries. The
camp ` hosts' said no. There were only three other sets of campers already set up. All I wanted them to do was ask to see if they minded as it was an emergency situation, and it wasn't as if we had turned up, not intending to use solar. It was just circumstance. They wouldn't ask and they wouldn't budge.
We had met a guy doing an eight month trip from
Adelaide at Karijini. We had arranged to
camp with him at
Millstream as it was also his next port of call. Anyway, he suggested that we just plug the trailer back into the car (he had a spare Anderson and had fixed it for us) and run that for a while, then we wouldn't be breaking the ` no Gennie rule'. I ran the car for about 20 seconds and this woman brown shirt came bowling over and told me to turn off the car as I was charging my batteries. I was
well miffed I can tell you.
To make matters worse. At about 8.50pm that night, this old couple came over and told us to go to bed!!!!! They thought they were the king and queen of this 200 sq m of Australia. I was rabbid. We were just sitting the chatting in the dark. I was nearly going to write to the Dept of the Enviroment when I got home to complain. Seriously bad treatment, from people that I consider are really meant to try and help you have a good time.
Phew.............glad to get that off my chest.
It all ended
well though, as Darren wired our set up through his van as he had loads of solar panels and power and he salvaged this part of our trip. We are still in contact and he stayed with us when he came to
Perth. We are planning a trip to
Darwin and surrounds early next year where we will catch up with him again.
