After using the site for the past 2+ years we have joined at last! We are the MALS - (middle aged ladies) who enjoy 4x4ing, camping and hanging out in the great outdoors. Love a chat and a few beers at the end of the day.
We drive a Prado v6 and tow a Bushman off road camper trailer (made in Maroochydore Q ).
Why the MALS?? When I, (MAL 1) first accessed the site to ask a question I described us as the MALS so the replies would not be too technical ie they would be in MAL-speak. MAL 2 was horrified and did not want to be a MAL (said she was not old enough). Howeverin 2002 we spent a couple of days in Birdsville and after chatting with Ruth for a while she said "I know you , you're the MALS". MAL 2 has been proud to be a MAL ever since! Thanks Ruth. We are off around Australia in late June for 6 months and will be heading to the Cape along with dozens of you so it seems from the posts. Hope to catch up at some stage of the trip. We'll be displaying our ExploreOZ sticker.
We will have lots of questions as our plans progress so looking forward to good advice

Hi Mal's on the Move. Welcome to the group, hope you enjoy your stay and happy travels.
Can I be your friends because after the treatment I got from my old ones in post no 11464 I'm not sure if they are really nice people any more. Particularly Willem as he is known to break confidences. Mrs Al is pretty OK and Jen from Andrew and Jen is great too, but her husband has a very demeaning streak in him. He has a personal problem too whereas he has short arms and very deep pockets.
Look forward to reading more of your adventures.

Hi Des,

Sorry to read of your 'mishap'. Hope you guys are back on the road soon.
Thanks for saying I am great, as for that husband of mine........I tend to agree he has deep pockets, but let that be our secret hey! LOL.

Deep pockets!! Just being true to my Scottish heritage. Besides, I hear that on our upcoming holiday you can go noodling for opal - whatever that is!! Might be able to make Jen a nice opal ring rather that my that old gawky looking thing she wanted in Dimboola!

Welcome MALS!

I am sure you'll enjoy the ride with this great bunch! I am always amused when I read the posts ( actually I find out that Andrew is not exactly working as he claims to be, judging by the number of posts he does! LOL)

We are off to Birdsville next week, looking forward to meeting Ruth and spending a couple days up there.

We did the Cape last June, different to what I expected, but glad we have done it. Have Fun!

Andrew, It's not your buttons she is trying to push, she is trying to reprogramme you to get you to work properly instead of crashing all the time. LOL

Good on you MALS. Saw your distant Queensland cousins a couple of weeks back on the Eyre Peninsular - the MAS (Middle Aged Sisters). They were camping on their way around Australia for six months too.

Great example now for the frequent users to join up, how about some more......

Great to see you ladies down South too one day although the Great Ocean Road hardly requires exploration now, it is my back yard.

Good on ya MALS! As a 'middle aged lady' myself, and a bit technically challenged - join the crowd! We are on the road for 6 months this year too, but we aren't likely to catch up with you, which is a pity. We are travelling from the eastern most point at Cape Byron to the western most point at Steep Point. We are going to meet Ruth tho'!! We too will display our ExplorOz sticker. Look forward to hearing how you are getting on up at the Cape.
Very happy travels
Anne

G'day Girls....I can call you girls can't I?, seeing as I may be in the same age bracket. Not too sure where middle age starts or ends?

Welcome to 4x4 Playschool...where grown persons spend an awful lot of time doing silly things and when they go bush they do even sillier things.

A word of warning though... do not become infamous on this forum or your names will be mentioned out of context...hahahahaha

Cheers,
