g'day just wondering if anyone can help me out with my hilux,it has an 18r motor and every time i go into water even small puddles it stalls.I dont know if this is a common problem or not.I think it is something to do with the dizzy or alternator,are there any solutions to this problem ?any advice would be apreciated.thanks rick

Sure sign of cracked distributer cap. Replace cap and this fix the stalling.
If water is getting into the engine bay and getting onto the motor maybe a little slower through the puddle next time.

Thanks for that,I also have another problem . the charge light stays on but the battery is not losing any charge

re the charge light staying on, perhaps the brushes in the alternater are going. Easy and cheap to replace but might be an indication that alternator will need replacing soon. Only a thougt but I'm sure there be a more qualified from someone else soon though.
