Hi all ,
I've being involved in 4x4 driving for the last 8 months or so and im thinking about upgradeing my current 4wd 1989 single cab 2.8 diesel to a bigger 4wd
I want to start going out bush and start doing some touring around OZ
The question is basically could anyone give me some advise on wat is a good overall 4wd i heard that a 80 series landcrusier is one tough beast, but i sort of had my eye on a nissan patrol??

Hi chubbs,
It's purely a matter of what you want ,I myself have a late model patrol and I am very happy with it but you would not go wrong with either truck thier both good take your time and make your own mind up,remember both trucks are good the rest is personal preferance.
Hope this helps

Chubbs,
Either way Patrol or Cruiser but if you are doing a lot of driving, stick with the diesel

I would go with a GQ Patrol or an 80 series Landcruiser.... Buy a diesel and make sure it has a service history....How simple is that......
And buy a MIGHTY WHITEY !!!!

Yeh i agree....iffin u go the GQ, stick to diesel that keeps it simple as far as repairs go. None of this elctronics stuff like the GU (no offense guys), just one less headache if something does go wrong, mind you....its not a common thing though.
Good luck..Angelo

G'day Chubbs
We got the GU 1998 2.8 for about the same price as an 80 series we looked at.
I,d go the GU again as i think they offer better value for money but don,t touch a 2.8 as they are as gutless as @#$%.Go the 4.2 However....it,s down to personnel choice, all 3 are great ( GQ/GU 80 series ) trucks..
Good luck, let us know what you choose.
Nino
