Comment: Maralinga and back to the Anne Beadell Highway

What about the poor bird that was caught in the trap? Did anyone try to save it? I wouldn't be able to walk past it without doing something.

Hi Tweaksta

We were with the poor young Wedge Tail for a little over half an hour. As I approached the bird, it tried to fly off, but the chain on the dingo trap meant that it could only get around 6'' off of the group.

We placed a tarp over the bird to lesson its stress and then it took 2 of us to pry open the trap. With the bird free it then huddled up and did not move. We could not wait any longer s we drove off and the people behind us said the bird then tried to hop away.

We all hoped that it went on to make a full recovery.

Cheers
