Comment: French Line- Madigan Line- Simpson Desert

Hi

As you are now aware, it is unreal country out there where very few people get to go.

A friend of mine, Denis Bartell tried to reply, but was unsuccessfull, so this is what he would like to say

". Jeff at Mt Dare replied that it was a shame about the Suzie –it would have been interesting to see how it went. They need to read my book Desert Walker where they would see that I made a successful trip in a Suzuki solo x- country -no tracks- from e – w ! I departed Dickerrie crossing -about 60 k north of the SA border on Eyre Creek in 1977 and headed due west. The following year I took 2 Suzies across W-E following Madigans route. There were no tracks back then to follow-just a blank canvas and no GPS, just a compass. I tried to reply to them but it wouldn’t accept me as I am not a member. Perhaps you can link this in to them both. Suzuki was a great desert machine and did everything asked of it, however if I was to be asked which was the best of my many desert vehicles I would have to say the TOYOTA mid wheel base turbo diesel - It just went where you pointed it.

Cheers

Stephen
