Comment: A few days in the WA Wheatbelt

Hi Michelle, David and kids,

Great to read about your camp at Elachbutting Rock. Brought back memories from 2011.

You mention:-

"As we walked back to the cruiser, we picked up some great little nuts on the ground with swirl patterns that amused the kids. I don't know the name, or which tree they were from but the kids plan to make a necklace from them. "

I think the pictures ( which I have placed on the Elachbutting Places page) may be what you found perhaps.

If so, the are the seeds from the Quandong tree.

One of the pictures cleary shows a swirly pattern, and the other are of the same seeds once they have passed through a scrubbing brush..... (Emu's gut system).

Hope this is what you found.

Cheers

Tony

Hi Tony - yes yes! Of course, Quandong. Thanks for making the effort to put the picture up, that's exactly what it was. You also prompted me to change the Place page from Elachbutting Hill to Elachbutting Rock and tag all the relevant pics from this blog over to the Place (now that we have that option, I too have to start using it) !Much appreciated, regards Michelle
