Hello Wayne & Julie
Our MH is 7m with solar heating, bigger than normal fridge, a good quality mattress and an annexe (which we haven't tried yet). We went through the same thoughts as you. We rented a MH for a 10 day trip in NZ and loved it. We, also, went through all the arguments about MH vs caravan and chose the MH recognising the limitations but deciding that we could live with them. Major limitation is lack of car but it hasn't bothered us to date.
We are both still undecided about selling the house - so this is probably not going to help you much.
We have done several practice trips now - most recent one down to Nowra/
Batemans Bay for about 10 days. We have not been anxious to get home after any trip - much prefer to move on. MH living is easy and the flexibility is great (but nothing has gone wrong for us yet). It takes no time no time to set up and pack up and easy to keep clean and tidy. We have a good relationship and share common interests and
well as separate interests. Communication with friends and family is good most of the time and we are still discovering possibilities. Seeing and living in new
places and meeting people is exciting. We are very content and just loving this new direction in our lives.
We tend to think the "big trip" next year will help us to make up our minds about making the arrangements permanent. If we still feel the same way, we may take the plunge. One of our grandkids who lives with us, looks after the house while we are away so we don't have to worry about that.
Sorry this is not more helpful - but I am sure you will work it out - that's half the fun.
All the best -Margaret and Russell
