Comment: Nissan Patrol 3 litre turbo diesel failures pre common rail

Thanks for that Grizzle and mossmanlad, I looked into putting a reco 4.2 into the patrol but they wanted a 4.2 engine trade and also as you say the cost would have been fairly big. I have seen the DADS and asked Nissan whether those extra mods would help the engine survive but they said it is not recommended by Nissan and that as I said previously, to do the services as recommended. The lady I spoke with was just a messenger who really didn't understand the ins and outs but just towed the Nissan line as if it was scripted (which it probably was)
