Sounds like you had a good start to the trip. Did you do the full
Port Germein jetty walk, its a beauty. Did you know that until storms damaged the last 700 metres of the jetty, it was the longest in the Southern Hemisphere.
Can not wait to read when you get to the good country -
the desert that is....LOL

well, we got on the road, it was cold...thats good!!! Did the whole jetty walk years ago, such a long way out over the
water. Would have been something to see in its heyday.
