Hi again Bob,
The last time we were across there we went up the pass without the van. Passed a van going down - he was taking it real slow! Sounds like my effort.
At this stage we are not sure which way we are going the chief cook wants to do the Vic and southern NSW highlands again. We loved it up there, something we don't get in the west.
I should have made my comment clearer. After rechecking with my auto bloke, it appears he was talking generally. It is the europe'an autos give very little warning after the light comes on. The Jap autos take a little longer. He also mentioned that the time varies quite considerably. All depends on the load and what gear you are in.
As you say it pays to be safe rather than sorry.
