Comment: Prado TD 150 Series Trans. Cooler

Hi Toyocrusa,
Better late than never. Haven't been on site for a while.
You were lucky that the auto did not collapse. After the light comes on you only have one minute at the most before auto gives up. The people who service my auto, told me that when towing vans you should never tow in drive. There is not enough circulation to keep the oil cool. It appears Holdens with large vans are the worst offenders.
Mine had a B & M coupled to tho original cooler five years ago and have not seen a light since. It has an additional thermostat and fan. Which turns on at 80c and off at 60c. Must put a oil temperature gauge on the vehicle sometime.

All the best for the new year. Could be over your way again in October.

G'day there Tony. I think the autos are a bit more resilient than a minute. The light is a temperature warning light that has a fair bit of leeway. The oil did not smell burnt at all but I take any sort of warning seriously, hence the fitup. Say hello if you do get over this way. It will give you an excuse to transverse Maquarie Pass.lol. Cheers.Bob.
