very interesting read the Michelle, though I did get a bit bogged down toward the end.
Must admit though that I was a little suprised to see in the pics smoked salmon, seems to be an odd one out as regards accountability and source and what may/may not have been used in its production?

Hi fisho, sorry my pics are just a collection of my various lunches and not really a collection of "raw" dishes but I wanted to show the sorts of things that we eat in general. I'm not a vegetarian, vegan, or raw foodist myself so I'm not suggesting that I eat raw, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free 100% of the time at all. Personally, I don't have a problem with adding animal protein sources to SOME of my main-meal salads, especially as I am a triathlete. But you have raised an important issue - it is true that we should be extra careful with salmon - selecting wild rather than farmed salmon is something to watch out for. The protein pellets they feed the farmed fish can contain some nasty ingredients that compromise the quality of the fish and some reports claim an intense concentration of toxins (cancer-linked PCBs). I buy my smoked salmon from the markets and it's a rare treat but I do enjoy it from time to time. Thanks for your feedback - it's great to have a chance to discuss these things here.
