Thanks for the blog Barry, it's a shame about the flats and the fact you had to head home. My girlfriend and I were in that area a couple of years back and a similar thing happened to us. We made it as far as
Israelite bay and suffered the same fate with our tyres. A nervous crawl back to
Esperance to get the tyres repaired but thank goodness for the puncture repair kit! I'm not sure if you went there but one of the standout spots for us was Skippy Rock in the
Stokes Inlet NP. We were there in March/April and we had the whole place to ourselves for 3 days. The
campsite is fantastic and the view is just incredible. Very close to
the beach and so much to explore I highly recommend you check it out if you return to the area. It's between Dunster
Castle Bay and
Fanny Cove. Access is about 4km off Springdale road which is off the south coast Highway just west of
Esperance.
Another great spot is Jorndee
Creek in Cape Arid NP which we also had to ourselves for 3 days. Our own private beach and
campsite amongst the peppy trees. All 4WD access only and you need to be fully self sufficient which by the looks of it you are sorted. Enjoy your retirement!
