I noted 'Carnegie’s party crossed 86 dunes in 8 hours at a rate of 5 dune ridges to the mile.' So camel power won over horse (Cat) power eh?

No mate I reckon we did it easier because we didn't have to walk! I can only imagine how hard it must have been to get those loaded camels up some of those monsters. You'd have to go up obliquely and then down the other side on the revers oblique jut to have any hope of maintaining a straight course. Hard bloody work...hard bloody men as well I reckon.
