Hey Truckster,
Just thought you would like to know that now we Adelaidians can experience the same comprehensive customer service you received from Rays in Frankston. They have just opened a new store here in the Festival State.
For all you guys who missed it see posts 11436/11437 to see how a store impresses its potential customers when they want to spend about $1,000 on sophisticated electronic equipment.

Steven, it can impress with the range though and occasionally you will find someone who can give some of the service - like phoning a store that can help even if it is
well off your route........

When I purchased a gas cooker from Rays the bloke there had complete knowledge of every model. He gave me a run down including pros and cons of the whole range including the liquid fuel jobs and included a lot of useless information at the same time. Great stuff.

Yes I have had the same at Rays in Geelong, seems that at the
Home opf Rays they know their stuff and sal;es ppl are sales ppl. I don't think it's Rays per se, its how you attract and train good people, if you want to change it get a job there and set a new standard.
Say Ray, you're not um RAY's are you?

Arghhh, exposed. Nah, you think I need a headache like that with "Truckys" coming in harassing my staff with no intention to buy :)
Arghhh, If it was my
shop I'd have all the girls in tight t shirts with "stop pretending, you know you want me" across the front :)
Arhh, dream on

Not that the store new at the time ,but remember that he WASN'T going to spend any money at all, just wanted to look while waiting for a unit to come in from the U.S. The local store I went to had a bloke who passed on info about different fridges for about 15 minutes quite happily, even though I said I was only looking, some sales people have expertise, some don't, he obviously ran into one of the latter

Well there you go!
It is nice to hear some positive stuff to go with the bad experiences. Is it the old saying about "for every customer that has a bad story to tell there are another 10 customers who were perfectly happy"
Maybe I'll just go down there and
check it out for myself. To me that is what forums like this are for. Shared experience in anything related to 4wd. Good or bad.

Thanks Rowler,
Sounds like they needed a bit more in the advertising budget. I've lived in
Adelaide for 5 years now and had never heard of them.

I dont know about "years" but they were in Light Square for maybe the last 9-12 months. Used to be a Hi-Fi
shop.

Dave, I had a look in the
Adelaide phone book a month ago and could not find it.
Well sorry, I had a look in the CDRom and could not find a Rays Outdoors, but saw a new
shop near completion heading out the Main North Road -
well out towards it anyway.
They have a stock of outdoor gear that covers a lot like Bunnings and commonly on the same plot or road. As Truckster says they frequently don't have the detail info but in many cases (not all) can find it for you.

Steven, Hope they come to WA as I am not impressed with R...Camping as most of the stuff is chinese and of low quality. Went into one store recently and the
camp ovens that are made by Southern Metal Spinners were starting to rust through the high moisture of the evap air conditioners. The
camp ovens are good gear but do need oiling and these (on display) created the wrong impression of the ovens.
Regards
Mark
