Cement or lime or talum will do the same. The sugar mills used lime to settle the slurry and sold the resultant "mill mud". one had to be careful where it was put however, as when fresh it smelt just like cow manure! I am planning to make up a settling tube from 90mm storm water with a mid level tap to drain off the clear water.

Thanks for that and it is interesting to see a number of ways that produce the sam results. Do you know know if the same amounts that I used with Epsom Salts, that is 2 dessert spoons in 10 litres of water would give the sam results.
