For those familiar with the area this is great news. For those less familiar, if you are travelling in the Upper Hunter region this NP is well worth putting into your itinerary.

Drove past Goulburn River National Park our way back from camping at Coolah Tops. (

Agreed, Baz, it is great news - quite a magical place.

Now that NSW Govt and Nat Parks have done the right thing, I just hope the Chinese coal mining company keeps its promise and protects the aquifer that feeds The Drip.

I hope that the NSW Government has allocated a budget for this and every other national park that they have gazetted. A previous NSW govt was very good at declaring a lot of new parks but never provided any budget for their management. Since much of the land included in the new parks was weed infested in the first place the nett effect was to create a massive bushfire problem. We must do much better than that.
