Review: Darling River Run

My Place Rating: My Rating 2/5

Completed the east side from Bourke to Tilpa.
Then did the west side from Tilpa to Wilcannia.
Overall the track is pretty dusty, with moderate washouts that we'll need to be travelled over slowly. There are sections where small and medium rocks cover the road for kilometres. The issue of dropping tyre pressures..I got through without touching the pressures, but dropped my speed down to about 40k in some rocky sections and picked a line through the scattered rocks, dodging the biggest ones. Basic outback travel speed rule 101...
Moderate 60kph speeds and up to 80kph on better sections and it wasn't an issue with many rutted sections. Treat the many cattle grids as crossing train rail lines with server caution, look-slowly proceed, for there are some deep holes and washouts immediately on both sides of the grids and they can do some significant suspension damage if you hit them at speed.
I hauled a semi offroad trailer with no problems, but it would be testy for a road spec low slung trailer or road going caravan.
