Best SUV/4WDs

Best Twin Can Utes

I can't say I disagree with the rankings here. A pity they combined SUVs and 4WDs. I mean, I'd never take a Toe Rag on a serious trip.

What a sorry state of affairs that list represents bob.

I'd put the car that came last 1st -> well almost and for sure if it had a big 4.8lt petrol engine.

Bob - why wouldn't you take a a Tow Rag on a serious trip - straight off the showroom floor with only OEM options it would be competitive with Toyota, LR or Nissan products.

Unfortunately (and I am not saying you) compare standard (but different) 4wds with their lifted and modified Jap 4wds. You might need to go overseas but there are lots of 4wd accessories even for Toe Rags and Porsches.

Maybe the Jap 4wds need the aftermarket options to be competitive (did I say that - :-)

Was supposed to be a post not a follow up - as usual an edit function would be good.

Surely they are not the same spec vehicle and the auto option is $17,000 more ?

No way can you compare an SUV with a 4x4. Two different horses altogether.

A joke; but typical of city born tabloids. Going off road is driving over the speed humps or the kerb to park the "truck" on the footpath when picking up or dropping Johnny off at the creche.

Hmm I hate the American term SUV - a 4wd is a SUV.

Doesn't SUV mean Suburban Utility Vehicle. Where do you get 4WD and off road from that. That's why I mentioned driving up the kerb.

As someone else said this belongs in the Friday Funnies thread.

No - the term is American meaning Sport Utility Vehicle and covers any sort of 4wd/Softroader wagon/ute type vehicle - so a Landcruiser 200 or a Patrol or a D4 is in American talk a SUV as well as Outlanders, RAVs etc.

hi all
U would never buy an auto Ford/Mazda . There are huge amounts of complaints about these . The dealers struggled to repair the Pj/Pk and the later Px is no different .How the makers can also offer an optional 2.2lt and auto is also a mystery [so little and lack of throttle response its a joke ]The larger engine performance is not earth shattering either

Fords dealers in Nth Qld are a joke

Car of the year awards or similar mean little as this refers to the vehicle when new and does not question reliability . There are many makers who have had dud transmissions and even cracked engine blocks as a regular occurrance .
