I have a set Clearview towing mirrors fitted to my 100series Landcruiser. They work fine when not extended. However, when fully extended I have a problem with the drivers side mirror. When we pass a road train, coming from the opposite direction the mirror swings back against the car. This does not happen every time but certainly 4 out of 10 times. This is quite annoying, considering the price of these mirrors. I would be interested to hear if any other Clearview mirror owners have experienced a similar problem. Cheers

Hey Rod - that is one of the most informative threads I have seen, should have read it earlier before posting a reply.

It appears the problem can be overcome with a bit of maintenance, but it is disappointing to read about the lack of support from Clearview on this issue.

Thanks - Phil

We have them on a Prado 150. Never had a problem. They leave other mirrors well behind and over time we have had them all. These are the best mirrors we have ever had.

George, I'd give Clearview a call to get their comments and/or go back to where you purchased them. I'm sure it's only a minor adjustment; we have never had any issues with the mirrors.

Cheers

Hi George.
We've had Clearviews for nearly 3 years..100 series as well.
We have had them on every type of road surface(bitumen, rough roads, dunes, corrugations etc)..no problems. As above. Give Clearview a ring.
cheers

I have had them on my 105 Cruiser permanently for 3 years, absolutely no issue with them on any roads or traffic conditions.

EDIT BUTTON...when the arms are rotated out, they index into position, make sure you have done that. They really shouldn't move.

Another big fan of the Clearview's.

I experienced your problem with the Pajero original mirrors when extended with the strap on types - constant issue, then moved on to wheel arch mirrors but had problems with them constantly needing adjustment. From there to extenders (scissor lift style) mounted on the bull bar, and they did the job but our roads are not real flash & caused vibrations so could tell when something was coming up the rear but not clearly.

Switched to the Clearview four years ago and they have been perfect. Switched them last year to the newer Paj and still well worth the investment.

I would be seeking manufacturers support as suggested by others.

Hope you get it sorted.

Cheers - Phil

George asked this question on the Caravanners Forum as well, and hasn't been back to either site to acknowledge the answers or thank anyone.

Why do we bother?

I'm glad I ain't too scared to be lazy
