Comment: Dovers Hills

Does anyone know what this building was used for? We free camped here on our way to Alice Springs. There's also an old disused payphone. Must have been something that had government funding at some point?

I believe it was an outstation for Kintore. Now used rarely by the T/O's and more frequently by the road maintenance crews passing through (and an owl or two that roosts there). There are several other buildings in the Dovers area although nothing as substantial as this.

I love pulling through the Dovers, the stands of desert Oaks are just magnificent. There are also a couple of old quarry sites on the southern side of the road that people use for a more secluded camp site.

Cheers
