I am seeking information about the condition of the road that leaves the
Plenty Highway near
Tobermorey Station and passes through Urandangi and joins the Diamantina Development Road about 90 klm. South of
Mount Isa.
It is a much shorter option from
Alice Springs to
Mount Isa than via
Boulia by about 260 klm.
Thanks in advance,
Scrubby.

Hi Scrubby, Our son went that way when on a motorcycle tour three years ago, so if you get no other replies I can ask him.

Great Scrubby. Son would probably say he didn't see much of the road at the speed they travelled :O. He doesn't notice the corrugations so much on the bike. He took photos of donkeys, cattle and miniature ponies grazing in town at Urandangi, as
well as the bikes parked outside the Pub.

I've been that way a voice if years ago, pretty good dirt road when dry.
Like most outback roads and tracks if wet, you're not going anywhere.
Make sure you stop at the Urandangi Pub, it's got real character.

Blood iPad autocorrect!!
That should read 'a couple of years ago'
Not sure why Mr Apple thinks "a voice if" is what I wanted to say :(

Scrubby,
After the National Gathering we are looking to do the Sandover through to
Lake Nash then possibly up to Camoweal, then onto Mt Isa.
Cheers Kev

Scrubby Hi,
Went through that track last year from
Tobermorey to Dangi then used the south track to
Dajarra good road all the way. Would be a bit iffy in any sort of rain, Can't see that being a problem when You will be going through though.
Had a great a'noon at the Dangi pub.
Mike.
