25k WA maps

I am interested in the Raster 25K South West WA - USB product . does anyone have this and care to comment. I want a near equivalent to the old forestry dept maps that showed all the logging roads and tracks in state forests in South West WA. is there any way i can get a sample map or two of an area east of pemberton just so I can get an idea of what they show. email rex@imagehunter.tv 0411 258 344.

Hello Rex

Here is screen shot of area east of Pemberton.

Shows most forest tracks but dont expect 100% coverage in all areas. The heavy dashed red line is the Bibbulmun Track (plus Huts) and the blue one the Munda Biddi Bike Trail (also has Coast to Coast Track over near Margaret River). Has all the streets for towns which some find handy. Has maps for selected towns/small areas outside of the south west as well.

The USB comes with a Mosaic of the south west plus 1,000 individual tiles - most are however a bit big to email (+ 12MB) if you are chasing an example. May try and crop one down for you and see how I go. Will Have to do tomorrow - go to go to work for a few hours.

I assume you are using OziExplorer? What format would you like?

Cheers
Greg
I sent one final shout after him to stick to the track, to which he replied “All right,” That was the last ever seen of Gibson - E Giles 23 April 1874

Thanks Greg. seems about right from what i can remember of the old forest maps. I dont intend to use gps software.
I just plan to use a viewer like ER viewer. I camp a bit but I dont do hardcore 4wd. Just need enough so that when i get to a fork i can make an informed call. I plan to use a windows tablet to essentially simulate a paper map.
if I need to I can get location co-ordinates from my phone gps.
I have downloaded ER viewer so if you can send that map via you sendit I could try it to see if it is convenient to use.
thanks again
Rex

one other question. if I were to install OziExplorer Android on my phone and ported the map package to the phone would the GPS locate me on the map in the same way that google maps does?

Yes - that's the sort of thing they are designed for. Just make sure your phone has GPS - i.e. no need for phone reception to determine location.

Will send yousendit (hightail) link for demo map shortly to your email address.

Cheers

...have uploaded to Dropbox as Hightail (formerly yousendit) appears to be down. You should have link in you inbox. Hope this is OK.
