Does anyone know the secret to removing the radio fromthe dash of a 60 series Landcruiser ? I have removed two screws on the right of the radio (one at front and one at rear) but the radio is still held in by something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

G'day Chris,
I had problems getting the radio out of my 60 series too. Wait till you try to put a new unit in!!
I had to remove the whole dashboard, have you done this yet? I remember that there is a bracket that holds it in place that you can't get to without taking the dash off.

I found that
mine was skrewed to something via a metal plate. I took the panel off and saw what was happening. Try having a look behind the dash from the passenger
seat area whan you bend down, you might see a skrew there. Sounds like a big job, but taking the panel off should really only take a few minutes.
Good luck.

Yup, it looked easy to begin with and just kept getting harder and harder. I ended up taking the glove box apart and finally stripping the rear screw on theleft hand side of the unit. A Hefty application of a cold chisel finally saw it out and promptly disposed of. As far as I remember there were 2 screws either side holding it in.
Cheers,
Justin

hi chris
if you go to www.birfield.com and then go to the manuals link. you can down load the factory manuals that show how to do this and much much more.
