Gee Darian, pretty quiet response! I guess that is a no!
Pretty hard job, and you have to admire people like Barnsey who stuck with it.

No response necessary Phil....just spreading the ABC's 'good words' a little further :-)......I've towed campers there a couple of times and enjoyed those visits, but to live there ? Possible, but unlikely for me - like many, I'm a real 'city softie' if the truth be known.

Darian,
I spoke to Barnsey last time the missus and I were up that way. It was more than just passing comments. It'd be a tough gig but very rewarding.
At the time, the only stumbling block we could see was that we have a 10 year old daughter who at some stage would have to go to boarding school for high school. Other than that... I am a mechanic of 20+ years, my wife manages a retail store and has done so for 18+ years. We both like the lifestyle etc etc etc. Yep, ticks the boxes.
Further more, I'm about to be made redundant in the next year to two.
Now for the big BUT. Try finding a place to live in
Birdsville. Unless you want to live out of the caravan park or maybe rent (even rentals are rare)....forget it.
We were looking at working with/for Barnsey, not buying out the business. My powerball numbers didn't come up.

One could take a large caravan out there and set up a full size annexe.... but getting through summer in such accommodation would be the thing (the van would probably need to be parked under permanent shade....the air conditioning would be unlikely to cope). As for a daughter and boarding school....she might never have spoken to you again.....lucky your numbers didn't come up :-).

Has the council sold all the cottages in the new housing estate?

Darian,
Trust me it's not that heat I struggle with, it's the cold.
Caravan....? Not a permanent solution.

Peter,
They sure did. We've been watching realestate.com pretty closely for the past 3 years. The only thing that's come up in that time is some vacant blocks down the road that runs down the side of the
bakery.
