Hi Nelson

Not sure about a burnt out Nissan, but we were through that area last August, there were many hundreds of square kilometres had been burnt out from the Connie Sue, to well past the plane crash site and close to Ilkurlka.

From what we were told, it was started from lightning strikes.

Also when you were at the plane crash site, you did not see I nice looking Jaffle iron hanging up, that was left there by the famous Mick O.

Hope you had a great drive.

Cheers

Pat Callinan has ditched his Patrol and Cooper tyres for a VW Amarok with General Grabber tyres. Was it a white one loaded with ARB gear?

Hi Stephen
Yes the countryside was all freshly burnt when we went thru in May 2013. And the jaffle iron is still at the planecrash site

Mate it took me 4 years to retrieve the one I left in a camp beside the Gary Junction in 2009. That one had been with me since I was about 18 so it hurt when I left it. Might have to get a few new handles on it and get it back into service!

Thank god for the Garmin

Mick,

I hate to say this, but judging by the "handles" I'd say that jaffle iron has had far too much use.

hi Nelson
one very likely cause would be spinnifex wrapped around the exhaust system it starts a very fast and fierce fire and is hard to put out if your not fully prepared with a sprayer at the ready at all times
