Hi all,

I've just put a 4.636 diff centre in my 2003 MK v6 2wd triton. It had a 4.9 ratio, i suspect the speedo will now be out. Anyone know how to work out what speedo gear i might need ? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks Paul

Hi,
From my calculations you have changed your road speed by plus 5.695% for a given engine speed. That is with your old diff ratio at 100klm/h, now at the same engine revs you will be doing 105.695 klm/h with your 4.639 diff.
Not knowing the number of teeth in the speedo gears, and which gears can be changed makes it hard to give an answer.
You have changed your diff gearing by 5.695%, so it seems logical to change your speedo gearing close to 5.695%.
Hope it makes sense.

Hi,
Forgot to mention your old 100km/h on speedo was probably not a true 100km/h. As we know most speedos are not correct.
Might be an idea to get a GPS speed reading against your speedo reading, You might find it wont be too far out.
Cheers.
