We are heading for the top end and would like to know where we can purchase tour passes into Arnem Land, before we get there. If anyone has this info we will be very grateful if you could let me know.
Ralph

Hi Ralph,
You can also call into the NLC office in
Katherine, they organised a permit for our friends to travel to Gove in an afternoon (they filled out the paperwork at lunchtime and picked up the permit at 4pm).
Maybe allow a full day, but
Katherine is a nice spot to stay for a day or so anyway.
You are probably aware that any permit only covers you to transit to Gove - you then need to report to the local office in
Nhulunbuy and arrange your permits in person for the coming days and areas you wish to visit.
If you just wish to travel into Arnhem Land across
Cahills Crossing to the Art Centre at Oenpelli for a day then that is easy - fill out the paperwork at the NLC office in
Jabiru and pay the $16.50pp then you're set for a day trip into Arnhem Land. Make sure you
check the tide charts for crossing Cahills though.
Good luck with your travels!
Cheers, Geoff

If you want to go to
Cobourg Peninsula, it is probably to late as they only allow 40 persons per day.
However Reuben does his own permit,

Hi Ralph,
We have just returned from up there I see by your photo you may be towing a van , not sure if you are aware but they do not allow caravans into Arnham land.
Regards Jim

Hi Ralph
We travelled into Nhulumby a few years ago and as Roadking advised you cant take a van in there.
We travelled into
Mainoru Store which has van sites and amenities stayed overnight and left the van there for a small cost.
This made for an easier day trip into Nhulumby about 550km and if there is a
bridge over the Goyder River (as I read somewhere) which was the main obstacle, you should have an easy drive.
You can get permits for the drive in by ringing the NLC and they will email it to you.
cheers Gary
