I have just cleaned the non return valve, again, on the external water supply line on the caravan. The problem manifests itself by water running back out of the inlet when the pressure pump is operated.

The obstruction was small dark green things that look like small plant leaves. At first I thought ants might be carrying them in from a nearby shrub but the problem has occurred again after I put an insect proof cover over the inlet, when not in use.

So I assume that it is some kind of bacterial growth. Does anyone know what it is and the best treatment to keep it under control? The blockage has occures about three times in a year.

Thanks.

Cheers, Kevin.

Milton, also used as baby bottle cleaner, can be used for bulk tanks.Boaties often use that for their tanks as well.

We had a hot water unit in a previous van so I am familiar with the martial from the sacrificial anode. But there is not one in this van and the material is quite different in appearance. Thanks for your response.

Do you have any clear plastic hoses any where that allow light in and promote alge growth in the water, its surprising how many manufactures do this.

Yes, I had this problem with one of my vans. If so, just slip some of that split black plastic convoluted electrical cable insulation of the correct size over the clear hose.
