We just upgraded to 3700 Kg on a 20074.2td GXL IFS. A 500 Kg gain. Legal at last. We had alreayd done most of the work back in 2010 when we got the car, we had fitted Bilstein shocks, had the torsion bar mount and lower wishbone arms upgraded as
well as one grade rear spring upgrade. Just as a matter of our safety and car capability. So we were really just after the paper work, some more mechanical things as necessary and tests.
We engaged an engineer to oversee and manage the work. We got the engineers name from the RTA site.
We had to fit air bags to the rear to aid stability. Yes they do adjust the height but they are there to aid stability. I don't really want any lift. Drive the car sensibly and you don't need one, even in the high country. The engineer then filled out the reports after a braking and stability
test drive on a track that we hired for an 1/2 an hour.
All good and then over the pits. We had to fit a new compliance plate and get new tyres (we knew about the tyres). An hour later, back to the pits for approval and DONE!.
