Bernie,
Definitely go the 6mm......
I don't know for sure, but I'd be pretty confident that the existing wiring would be bloody thin.

Bernie. The wiring will opperate the fridge but would probably lose as much as 1/2 a volt in line loss meaning even when the battery has 12.1 Volts, the fridge only see's 11.6 so will turn it'self off. Would lose a fair bit of running time.
As it's a fair way to the back of a 100 series, I ran 10mm twin & with less than .15 volt drop it runs well. I left the standard plug to charge the Maglite. Craig...................

I've been running my Engel 30l from the rearsocket in my 2000 Prado for over 3 years and never had a problem. No extra battery, re-wire or anything. Why don't you give it a go at home and see what happens.

Ive been running my 6ol Engel on several long trips with no problems.I often run it on freeze still no problems. I have a parana battery system which charges the camper battery.I switch the rear socket over with a relay when the engine is not running to draw from the second battery in the camper. (runs off the cranking batterys when the engines running.)So when running off the second battery that means the wiring runns through 12mm wire from the camper to the engine compartment then through the original wiring back to the rear socket.
